CO Child Welfare Assessment Tools Audit Kickoff Meeting 1

Following the Child Welfare System Interim Study Committee, the Colorado General Assembly passed, House Bill 24-1046, which requires the Office of the Colorado Child Protection Ombudsman (CPO) to select a third-party evaluator to conduct the audit. Among other things, this audit will identify gaps and solutions in completing the tools, examine the impacts of geography and race/ethnicity and, if needed, recommend best practices and suggest improvements. A final report summarizing the results of the audit will be submitted by March 1, 2026.

Concluding the four month selection process, ICF was selected to serve as the third-party evaluator and has executed a contract with the CPO to fulfill the requirements articulated in HB 24-1046.

The CPO is committed to ensuring that stakeholder partners remain informed regarding the progress of the audit and have clear expectations about how they may engage with this process. Two virtual kickoff meetings have been scheduled. Stakeholder partners and members of the pubic are invited to meet the ICF evaluation team, hear more about their evaluation approach and timeline, and learn about how to provide input and share your perspective.
