On March 2, 2026, the Office of the Colorado Child Protection Ombudsman (CPO) will be releasing the independent audit of Colorado’s Family Safety and Risk Assessment tools, as required by House Bill 24-1046. The report details ICF’s findings and recommendations, as required by statute. The audit focuses on system-level tools, processes and conditions across Colorado. It is not an evaluation of individual caseworkers, supervisors or counties, nor is it intended to assess the appropriateness of decisions in individual cases.
The CPO and ICF are hosting four virtual information sessions to review the purpose and scope of the audit, summarize the evaluation approach and answer high-level questions about the report. These sessions are intended to support a shared understanding of the audit and its findings. These sessions are open to the public and will be recorded. Zoom information for the session is below.
